Product: Gensiv — Become the brand AI recommends

---

Connect a Google Analytics 4 property to a brand and Gensiv imports the sessions, key events and revenue that come from AI assistants. You see them on the **AI traffic** page next to your AI visibility, and you can read them through the API and the MCP server.

AI referral traffic is included on every plan.

## Connect a property [#connect-a-property]

Open the brand, then **Brand settings → Integrations → Google Analytics**. There are two ways to connect. Both are read-only.

<Tabs items="["Sign in with Google", "Add Gensiv as a Viewer"]">
  <Tab value="Sign in with Google">
    1. Click **Connect Google Analytics** and sign in with a Google account that can see the property.
    2. Allow Gensiv to *see your Google Analytics data*.
    3. Back in Gensiv, choose the GA4 property and click **Save and import 90 days**.

    One Google account can be used for every brand in the workspace. Pick a different property per brand.
  </Tab>

  <Tab value="Add Gensiv as a Viewer">
    Use this when the property belongs to a client, or when you'd rather not sign in with Google.

    1. Click **Add Gensiv as a Viewer instead** and copy the service account email shown.
    2. In GA4, open **Admin → Property access management**, add that email and give it the **Viewer** role.
    3. Copy the property ID from **Admin → Property details**, paste it into Gensiv and click **Check access and import**.
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

Gensiv imports the last 90 days straight away, then refreshes the last three days every morning, because GA4 keeps adjusting recent days for up to 48 hours. Click **Import now** to refresh sooner (once every 15 minutes).

### Options [#options]

| Option    | Use it when                                                                                                       |
| --------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Hostname | The property tracks more than one site. Only visits to this hostname are counted, for example `www.example.com`. |
| Key event | You only care about one conversion, for example `purchase` or `sign_up`. Leave it empty to count every key event. |

Changing the property or an option re-imports the 90 days.

## What counts as AI traffic [#what-counts-as-ai-traffic]

A session counts when its GA4 **session source** is one of these:

| Shown as   | Session sources                                                                                       |
| ---------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| ChatGPT    | `chatgpt.com`, `chat.openai.com`                                                                      |
| Perplexity | `perplexity.ai`, `www.perplexity.ai`                                                                  |
| Gemini     | `gemini.google.com`, `bard.google.com`                                                                |
| Claude     | `claude.ai`                                                                                           |
| Copilot    | `copilot.microsoft.com`, `edgeservices.bing.com`                                                      |
| Other AI   | `chat.deepseek.com`, `deepseek.com`, `meta.ai`, `grok.com`, `you.com`, `chat.mistral.ai`, `phind.com` |

For each day and source Gensiv stores sessions, engaged sessions, new users, key events and total revenue, the site's total sessions, and the top 200 AI landing pages. A landing page is marked **Cited by AI** when an AI engine cited that page in answers to your tracked prompts in the last 90 days.

Days follow the property's time zone.

## Limits [#limits]

* **Google AI Overviews and AI Mode** clicks reach your site as ordinary Google search traffic, so they can't be separated in GA4.
* **Visits with no referrer.** Some AI apps open links without a referrer, and GA4 records those visits as direct traffic. The numbers are a floor, not the full total.
* Only GA4 properties are supported. Universal Analytics is not.

## Read it from the API [#read-it-from-the-api]

```bash
curl "https://api.gensiv.com/v1/brands/$BRAND_ID/traffic?from=2026-09-01&to=2026-09-30" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $GENSIV_API_KEY"
```

See [Get AI referral traffic](/docs/api-reference/metrics/getAiTraffic). In the [MCP server](/docs/mcp) the same data is the `get_ai_traffic` tool. From the AI traffic page you can also export **Daily AI traffic** and **AI landing pages** as CSV.

## Disconnect [#disconnect]

In **Brand settings → Integrations**, click **Disconnect**. Gensiv stops importing and, if no other brand uses the same Google account, revokes its access. Imported history is kept unless you tick **Also delete the imported traffic history**.
