What is AI Overviews?

AI Overviews are Google's AI-generated summaries shown above traditional search results, synthesised from web sources with links to those sources.

AI Overviews matter disproportionately because they sit on top of the search behaviour buyers already have, so a brand absent from them loses visibility without any change in its ranking.
