A single visibility score could not show which competitor was closing in on loungewear, which prompts drove it, or what a two-person content team should fix first.
The team tracked 500+ prompts against 22 named competitors, watched specific matchups instead of averages, and briefed new content straight at the gaps the data showed.
Cozy Earth now appears in 23.7% of tracked AI answers, more than 2.5x the share of lululemon (9.4%) and Vuori (9.2%). A two-person content team got there by tracking specific competitor matchups instead of one topline number, then shipping content aimed at the exact gap the data showed.

The challenge
Cozy Earth already had a strong reputation in bamboo bedding and women's pajamas. What the team did not know was whether that strength showed up consistently in AI answers, or whether a competitor could gain ground before the shift was visible anywhere else.
Loungewear was the worry. The category was growing fast, and a single visibility score would not show which competitor was closing in, which prompts drove it, or what content could fix it.
Apparel was earning consideration but not citations. With two people on content, the team needed to know where to focus next.
What they changed
They started narrow and expanded on purpose. The tracked prompt set grew from a couple dozen questions to more than 500, covering bedding, sleepwear, loungewear and comparison-style queries, measured against 22 named competitors across five assistants.
They watched matchups, not averages. Category-level and competitor-level views showed specific head-to-heads over time. When one view showed the loungewear lead narrowing quarter over quarter, the team acted before any topline number moved.
They briefed content against the real gap. A competitor-focused piece on temperature-regulating pajamas was already live. The data showed the gap was opening on "loungewear you can run errands in" searches, so the team briefed and shipped a new piece aimed squarely at that query.
They kept a steady cadence. Drafts arrived close to brand voice and needed a light review, not a rewrite, so two people could compete with much larger brands.
"Now we can spot a specific competitive gap, build content around it, and see how that work improves our position."
Alex Nelson, Director of Digital Product at Cozy Earth
The results
Within one quarter of publishing the loungewear content, Cozy Earth roughly quadrupled citation volume in the category. Its lead in the matchup the team was watching grew to 30 points, up from less than one point earlier in the year, its widest lead in that category all year.
- Sleepwear: mentions grew from 1,241 to 4,658 in 12 months, a 3.6x increase. Cozy Earth appears in 73% of sleepwear answers that mention a tracked brand.
- Overall: the most-mentioned brand among 22 tracked competitors as of August 2026, at 23.7% of tracked answers and 23.3% on non-branded discovery prompts.
- Momentum: from May to July 2026, mention rate and citation rate both rose roughly 1.5x while the prompt set kept expanding.
- By assistant: mention rates of 33.4% on Google Gemini, 25.5% on ChatGPT, 22.0% on Microsoft Copilot, 20.5% on Google AI Overviews and 17.3% on Perplexity.
- Brand attributes: "soft" now appears in about 9 of 10 answers that mention Cozy Earth, up from roughly 3 of 4 a year earlier. "Premium" and "breathable" reached 59% and 69%.
The visibility shows up in revenue too. AI-referred sessions convert at about 2.4x the site average, with roughly 20% higher average order value and about 2x the add-to-cart rate.
What you can copy
- Track matchups, not one score. A topline visibility number hides which rival is closing in and on which prompts.
- Grow your prompt set as you learn. "We started with a couple dozen tracked questions and now monitor more than 500," Nelson said.
- Defend a narrowing lead early. The loungewear lead fell below one point before the team responded. One targeted piece turned it into 30.
- Write for the specific query. Brief content against the exact searches where the gap is opening.
- Measure commerce, not just mentions. Conversion rate, order value and add-to-cart from AI-referred traffic prove the channel is worth the effort.
