What is llms.txt?

llms.txt is a proposed convention: a plain-text or markdown file at a site's root that summarises the site and links its key pages, so AI systems can read a clean version rather than parsing rendered HTML.

It is a convention rather than a standard, and support is not guaranteed. Its practical value is that maintaining one forces a site to state plainly what it is and what it offers, which helps regardless of who reads it.
